SPECIAL MISSIONARY EXPERIENCES

SPECIAL MISSIONARY EXPERIENCES
NOV. 12, 2012 - MAY 2014. WE ARE EXCITED TO SERVE OUR HEAVENLY FATHER . WE KNOW THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS IS TRUE!! IT IS A BLESSING TO US, OUR CHILDREN, AND GRANDCHILDREN. WE KNOW THAT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER LIVES AND LOVES US! “I think there is no place in the world where I feel closer to the Lord than in one of His holy temples. In addition to the closeness we feel to the Lord when we are in the temple, we can continue to receive blessings even after we have returned to our everyday lives. Attending the temple gives us a clearer perspective and a sense of purpose and peace." President Thomas S. Monson

NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, LONDON, ENGLAND

DECEMBER 9, 2013 - NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM - LONDON, ENGLAND

We enjoyed going to the Natural History Museum that is located fairly close to the Hyde Park Chapel.  There is no charge to go into most of the museums.  You could spend days walking through these amazing buildings and seeing everything that is there.

It's a beautiful building with thousands
and thousands of animals and displays.

It says here that there are 70 million specimens.

Our grandchildren would love this!!

These are just a few of the many displays that we saw.

FIRST OUTING TO LONDON - Hyde Park Chapel

Our first outing to London was on Dec. 9, 2013.  It was a very cold day.  We went with
several other Temple Missionary couples and enjoyed going to church and walking down a few
of the streets by the Hyde Park Chapel.

We went to the Portuguese Branch
at Hyde Park where Elder and Sister Bartschi,
one of the temple missionary couples, had been asked
to speak in Sacrament Meeting.  It was fun to see some of London.

While at church we met Elder Henrique Moura from Porto,
Portugal.  We told him that our son, Kenton, served a mission
to Porto.  He remembered him and said that he spent a lot of time
with the missionaries.  He said that Kenton and the other missionaries
had influenced him to serve a mission.  He is serving in London as a
Portuguese Missionary.  It was fun to meet him and find the connection.

Here we are in London!!  It's amazing to think that we are
really here.

We walked by Royal Albert Hall.  On Dec. 15, we will
be going to "The Messiah" in this beautiful building.

The Temple helps lift us to Higher Ground!!

The Temple helps to lift us to Higher Ground.
We can help lift others.

This is a beautiful rendition of the London Temple.
It really is this beautiful!! There's a peace in the
temple that is amazing.  There's no words to
describe the feeling of love that we feel
from our Heavenly Father.  We know he lives!!

The Gift That Comes to Those Who Enter the Temple
"I believe that the busy person on the farm, in the shop, in the office, or in the household, who has his worries and troubles, can solve his problems better and more quickly in the house of the Lord than any- where else. If he will . . . [do] the temple work for himself and for his dead, he will confer a mighty blessing upon those who have gone before, and . . a blessing will come to him, for at the most unexpected moments, in or out of the temple will come to him, as a revelation, the solution of the problems that vex his life. That is the gift that comes to those who enter the temple properly." - (John A. Widtsoe, "Temple Worship," The Utah Genealogical and Historical Magazine, Apr. 1921, 63-64)

We were so excited to open our Mission call and to find out that we were going to the London Temple as missionaries.  Our papers said to report to the MTC in Provo on November 12, 2012, and that we would spend two weeks at the MTC, and 18 months on our mission.

We were happy that Linda and Paul Bingham, my sister and her husband, were able to come to our Mission Farewell.  They were called to the Palmyra Temple and left a couple weeks before we did, but they were able to come to see us before they left.  My mother, Virginia Price was there with us too.
 Ken, Paul Bingham, me (Marilyn),
with my mom (Virginia Price), and my sister, Linda Bingham.

We were able to go to our newest little granddaughter, Lucy Berg's, baby blessing in Utah.  From left to right:  Fernando holding Darius, Kristina, Jon holding Charlie, Emma and Henry with Melissa behind them, JaNae and Wayne holding Lucy, Joseph holding Bennett with Carter in the front, me (Marilyn) holding Ezra, Ken, Janelle holding Chase, and David holding Savannah.
We were sad that Kenton and Brittney weren't able to come with Afton, and Emme from Boulder, Colorado, and also Matthew and Yvonne with their family. Abigail, Saylor, Talon, and Rigdon who were living in Dubai.

Our Stake President,  President Robert Marcum
set us apart as missionaries.

We are excited to be serving as Temple Missionaries
in the London Temple.

We arrived at the Provo MTC on November 12, 2012
and are excited to start our new adventure.

We loved everything about the MTC.  Our teachers were all amazing.

Marilyn excited to start our mission.

We are standing at the map with Sister Joyce Morgan who is
also going to the London Temple.

This is a beautiful picture of the Savior.  He is the reason
we are serving a Mission.  We love him and are so thankful
for all that he has done for us.  We know that he loves us!!
We want to help other people feel of his love.

Marilyn in our apartment at the MTC.
Our room was similar to a motel room.
It was very nice and adequate for all our needs.

Beautiful pictures wherever we go.
